This project's broad aim it to improve the presentation skills of Economics students. Such skills are increasingly needed for assessment purposes but there is also a link to PDPs and employability.
The project would involve setting up a website (involving multi-media) for tutors and students to act as a teaching tool for other Universities. Initially it would be anticipated the site would include notes for tutors, OHTs, handouts for students, video clips showing good (and bad) practice and other useful tips. There could also be an interactive element. It would specifically aim at Economics students - not just presentation skills in general - for example, by using an economics theme in the video presentations.
Note: Judith Piggott was interviewed by the Education Guardian, 6 February 2007, about her department's approach to teaching presentation skills.
