Exploring The Economic, Business And Social Environment Using Visual (Photographic) Imagery
An Economics Network funded project, 2008-9
Institution: University of Ulster
Project leader: Frank Forsythe
This project aims to demonstrate the power of photographic imagery to influence one's perception of the economic, business and social environment in which one lives.
Within the project students will consider, for example, how photographic imagery has been used to depict different economic systems since the 1930s up to the present; the impact of industrialisation and changing industrial structure on society; economic and social divisions within society; the world of work and business; unemployment and poverty; environmental issues, including issues relating to urban renewal; consumerism and advertising.
Outputs:
- Project Final Report
- Slide show of photographic materials and collages prepared by students, presented as an electronic poster at DEE Conference 2009 (large 211 MB download)
