About the Workshop

The Economics Network has a long tradition of offering training workshops for Graduate Teaching Assistants and Early Career Academics. Over the years, as participants progressed in their careers, we recognised a gap in support for colleagues at the mid-career stage, a phase often marked by increased responsibilities, evolving professional goals, and new challenges.

This workshop aims to fill that gap, covering topics such as:

  • Evidencing impact in economics teaching
  • Making the most of leadership roles within Economics and the broader university context
  • Securing funding for economics education projects
  • Engaging with the broader economics education community
  • Applications and nominations for Senior/Principal Teaching Fellow and National Teaching Fellowships of Advance HE.

Sessions will be led by recognised leaders in the field and will provide actionable insights and practical recommendations to support your career progression.

The workshop will also be an opportunity to build and strengthen networks with other economists at similar levels of your career pathway, to develop solidarity and mutual support, and to foster avenues for collaboration in teaching, learning and research in economics.

Who Should Attend?

The workshop is ideal for economists who have moved beyond entry-level positions, have been in their roles for few years, and are considering their next steps in promotion or professional development.

If you have just started teaching in HE in the UK, you may want to consider our “Early Career Workshop for Economists.”
