Professor Alvin Birdi: Economics Network Director

Alvin has been Director of the Economics Network since July 2012. As part of this role, he is also a member of the Economics Network management board and CHUDE (the Conference of Heads of University Departments of Economics — an RES Subcommittee).

Alvin sits on the Council of the Scottish Economic Society and chairs the Education Committee of the European Economic Association. He was on the 2015 Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Benchmark Committee which revised the Benchmark Statement for Economics and is a member of the editorial board of the International Review of Economics Education.

Alvin is Professor of Economics Education in the University of Bristol's School of Economics. He is also the University's Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education Innovation and Enhancement).
