Teaching Symposium for early career lecturers and teaching assistants

Economics teaching event at HM Treasury, Nov 2013

22 November 2013

On 11 November 2013, HM Treasury hosted a workshop entitled Teaching economics as if the last three decades had happened.

This event was both the next instalment in Diane Coyle's project to discuss and evaluate the relevance of the economics curriculum and the launch of the INET CORE project, an international effort to change the core curriculum.

New Lecturers residential workshop, 18-19 October, Manchester

11 October 2013

The Economics Network runs residential two-day workshops specifically designed to meet the needs of new and early-career lecturers in economics. The next workshop is in the University of Manchester on the 18-19 October. The event is free to all new and early economics lecturers at UK higher education institutions and online booking is available.

Early Careers' Lecturer/Tutor Follow-up Symposium

The Symposium has been designed as a follow-up to the autumn workshops for new lecturers and graduate teaching assistants. It will:

  • build upon the concepts addressed in earlier workshops
  • provide the opportunity to review your teaching practice
  • explore teaching of specific subjects e.g. econometrics or microeconomics
  • offer sessions aimed specifically at GTAs and others for new lecturers, e.g. a session on course design

DEE Conference

The Network hosts the biennial Developments in Economics Education (DEE) Conference (formerly DEBE).

DEE 2013 took place on the 5th and 6th September 2013 at the University of Exeter.
